Amplifying Opportunity in The Arts Division
The arts enable us to express a deep belief in humanity and our ability to feel for and care for one another. The Arts Division provides rigorous training in artistic practice as well as critical research into the visual and oral culture in which we exist. With our particular emphasis on social and environmental justice, UC Santa Cruz Arts empowers our students to give voice to the traditionally unheard—fostering difficult discussions with empathy and inclusion. We nurture success by meeting the financial, emotional, and academic needs of our students through scholarships, mentorship, and extracurricular opportunities to excel. We believe in the Art of Excellence and that true excellence requires inclusion and equity.
Supporting Student Success In
The Arts Division
Scholarships and Fellowships—The arts define and capture our individual and collective purpose in life, and artists often respond directly to and shape our understanding and awareness of societal issues. Our student body is diverse and often from lower socio-economic status. Your support of undergraduate scholarships and graduate student fellowships brings diverse voices to creative industries by providing access to participation in the arts for students from all backgrounds.
University of the Future fund—The Arts Division is committed to serving the changing demographic of our student body, which represents the future of California. The University of the Future will reduce time-to-degree and develop relevant, culturally-specific curriculum. Your gift will help students launch projects that illustrate an inclusive university, and will provide for financial emergencies for basic needs such as housing and food shortage or buying school supplies and books. Your support will also help students develop programming that will enrich their education through the creation of projects, speaker series, and workshops.
Arts Professional Pathways—Your gift will promote career pathways in the arts through internship fairs, and panels, and help fund paid internships and students’ professional development. In this way, you’ll help students learn how to translate the skills and experience they gain at school and in entry-level jobs into careers with impact.
Arts Research Institute—Your gift will provide opportunities for undergraduates and graduate students to work in a faculty lab or studio, and engage in independent research practice.
